X-108 Info X-108G Outdoor Version SWR Accuracy (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I just tried to reason about the swr readings on my x-108g. I did the following experiment: Tuned the antenna using a vector network analyzer to swr 1.3, then connected the same antenna using the same cable to the x-108 and it showed totally different readings (swr ~4 and the curve on the graph is totally different). The same happens for example for 14 Mhz and 7 Mhz. Does anyone of you have the same issue?

How can you match with a network analyzer? Even if it's a vector NA it won't match the antenna.

If you matched it with C,L maybee than you have to use another additional coax piece
which then results in a change in SWR due to the Phase change of your 1.3 Matching...

Sorry, I was unclear. I matched using a manual tuner. So @Illusi0ns, what were your observations? Is it due to the complex resistance, that throws the swr meter off? Do you just tune to the best and then just use it as that anyways and don't care about some high readings?

im not to sure but but comparing to my kenwood with ato but not using the ato only swr frunction on resonate freqs there is a difference that it will show compleatly different on the x108g sometimes 2 more. im so anal unless 1.1 im not happy

Yes it's due to the phase difference Tuner to TRX on the coax cable.
I normally have the shortest possible cable between tuner and trx and retune to get the lowest
swr on the TRX not the tuner, if i use a manual tuner.
