Looking for assistance. I have mastered the cat control functionality with the x108 and HRD. They seem to talk fine together. I am also able to receive the psk and jt65.F8 modes. My issue is the transmit side. I am using the usb-digimode-2 from xxgcomms by Steve, G8XGG. Upon transmit the HRD keys and transmit the data apparently fine. The problem is that upon conclusion of a transmission the HRD control disconnects. The radio stops transmitting (at least there is no moving of the onboard nor inline meter). HOWEVER, the small icon on the radios screen seems to be locked on a red T seeming to indicate the radio is in transmit mode. Nothing but turning off the radio corrects that state.
Generally like the rig but this gremlin has me puzzled. Any help?

Dear Steve,

I was pulling my hair out because of exactly the same problem. I use Fldigi and a USB cable for rig control via RigCAT, use the speaker output (3.5mm jack on the X108G) as the audio going into my sound card, and feed the soundcard audio into the X108G via the ACC port.

The most likely cause of your problem (and what caused it in my case) is RF common-mode current feedback coming back down the outside of the jacket of your coax and causing the Tx/Rx relay in the X108G to lock up or causing the USB rig control to be unable to send a command to stop transmitting. As in your case, the only way I could get around this was to turn the X108G off and on again.

I solved this by adding an "ugly balun" air choke at the feed point of my antenna, and placing several clip-on ferrite beads around a couple turns of coax just proximal to my XCVR to act as choke for common-mode RF currents on the outside of the cable jacket. This solved the issue.

Let me know if the above helps.

Pavle, KT3TT
