I have always assumed it was the outdoor version - it has the little handles on the four corners.
Might as well try the INDOOR version to see if that works.
OK - Thats a good start -(I love you by the way!) - the linked file on the page you gave (indoor build 4 i think) installed and it is now back up and running as a rig - it is not receiving anything - just a quiet hiss on all bands, but it has booted.
So now it is the offset - values or something, i remember seeing a youtube video on that, however i do not have the values that the radio previous had - there is an excel spreadsheet or something around here?

here is the workaround:

My approach:

Open the unit and check what is written on the label. In my case, the following status:

SSB 10692620 Hz
CW 10692390 Hz

the offset is 1100 Hz. This is what I could see, among other things, when I opened my x-108G, the label and then the advanced settings checked. So I could be sure that the offset is also 1100 Hz. After the reset, I then entered the values in the advanced settings - for details, see Attachment

That's it Playful

OK- Open the case, well i best do that when i have not had a couple of beers so i will revisit that. The screws on the bottom are the access point yes? Take the handles off and remove those screws - Is it safe to remove all of them?
The X1M has a single screw that needs to be kept in place when removing the cover. All 6 screws?

Of course the other issue here, is that i bought an outdoor version, sent it back to the shop in Greece when the power was dipping on TX and they have sent me an indoor version as the replacement.

I would complain to them if i was not so distrustful of the service.
Hmm.

So far - tank you very much - i will get on to the values tomorrow. I will let you know.
Many any thanks.

Yes, u must remove all screws on the bottom, so you can move the board. you have to pull out additionally the knoobs on the front and remove the board out to the back Meh

I tried your values - Calling CQ on 14.076 certainly seems to show my signal is getting out - so says PSK reporter, but the radio is completely deaf - A faint hiss and no more. This is a problem with the values - or something else.
I should say, the radio and antenna were fine prior to this upgrade problem.

Squelch! - The squelch was at 100%
I hear things again!

I cannot thank you enough for this - Such a stressful day.
Saying that - it still crashes when i try and do Split - Which is where i came in at 9am this morning when i ran the first firmware upgrade.
But regardless, it works. Mostly.
Thanks again.

Hello,

I'm not sure if wgoodf's problem/solution is the same as mine.

I recently got the OUTDOOR version of the X108G. The radio worked great and I love it! But....I decided to download the latest firmware (1.00 build 29) and install it on the radio. I turned the radio on and now there's no sound and it will not transmit. Also the voltage reads around 11.7 volts when connected to a 13.8 volt power supply. Is there anything I can do?

I did not write down my original offset values.... I know the original date on the boot screen was April 2016. Please help!'

Thanks in advance.

How did this mod work out for W4YN? I have looked through the site and haven't seen anyone who has done this yet.I am interested in seeing if this worked out.73's
I did the R76 removal mod to unlock the radio. No problems at all. Works fine. Simple to do. AND its just a crummy 10K so its easy to replace if you trash the orignal one in removing and want to change back.

Firmware updates - outdoor version only !!
  • outdoor_version_of_X108G_firmware_update_build024.rar
  • outdoor_version_of_X108G_firmware_update_build015.rar ->OLED !!

  • Update description
This firmware solves the problem that when your computer is
connected with your outdoor version of X108G via USB, the X108G
can not be transmitted via the software instructions, so that you can
control the X108G via the corresponding software.
  • Firmware update tutorial:
    1. Press the frequency knob (keep the action), turn on, connect the
      USB cable to the computer.
    2. Open “ My computer”, there is a Update X108 (*:) mobile
      storage device.
    3. Open Update X108 (*), delete the file, this time on the radio will show delete progress (waiting for progress to complete 100%).
    4. Copy the latest firmware to the Update X108 (*:) to wait for
replication to complete, and then disconnect the USB and the
      computer.
    5. Restart X108G, firmware update is completed!
I can't get the files to open and can't find a program to open them..at a total loss at the moment

I am confused.
When updating the firmware of one of these radios, do you automatically lose to the system settings?
Another question is, what exactly does the RST button do? Does it reset the settings to what the radio was set up at the factory or is it to restore basic settings. Any information would be appreciated.
